Getting Started - Virtual Machines

To start using Virtual Machines, follow these steps:

Initial Setup:

  • Login to the Virtual Machines user interface.
  • You will end up in your project of you service. For clarification regarding projects IDs in OpenStack and how they correspond to you reservations, please see Virtual Machines - overview
  • Under the Compute→Overview pane you can inspect the quotas.

  • Under Compute→Instances you can view currently running instances and launch new ones with the button "Launch Instance".
  • Under Volumes→Volumes you can create new volumes and attach them to the running instances
  • Under Network→Network Topology you can view the current network layout of the project, and which instances that are connected to which networks in the platform.
