Backup & Recovery¶
The Backup & Recovery service available through the Horizon panel enables backing up virtual machines and restoring them from backups.
Before You Begin¶
To use the Backup & Recovery feature, you must submit a request through the ticketing system. In your request, include: Region, domain, and project name.
This information is accessible once logged into the dashboard.
Getting Started¶
- Visit cloud.psnc.pl or directly at https://cloud.psnc.pl/vprotect.
- Go to the Virtual Environments / Instances tab.
- Select an instance by clicking on its name.
- At the bottom of the page, find Settings and in the Backup policy field, select the appropriate backup policy (
default_policy-BST
for BST region,default_policy-DCW
for DCW region, orManual_backup-BST
for one-time backup). - Save the settings by clicking the Save button.
- From this point, you can perform backups manually in the Backup SLAs or Virtual Environments / Instances panel, using the Action - Backup button.
- By default, a scheduler runs incremental backups once daily.
Restoring or Mounting a Backup File¶
- Navigate to Virtual Environments / Instances, click the action button on the right side of the instance you want to restore from backup or mount.
- Choose the restore action and set parameters, such as the backup to restore and the name of the restored instance.
- Confirm by clicking the Save button.
You can track progress in the Task Console (Task Console).
Mounting a Backup File¶
- Select the backup file of interest, set the automatic dismount time, and click Save.
Then navigate to the Mounted Backups tab in the menu, where you can manage mounted files.
Additional Settings¶
It is possible to receive email notifications about completed backups and restores.
- Go to the Settings -> Mailing tab, and then click Create.
- Add recipient email addresses and confirm by clicking the Save button.
Notes¶
- New instances may appear up to 19 hours after creation.
- Pay attention to the data retention policy: by default, the last 4 backup versions are stored for 30 days. A one-time backup is kept only for 30 days.
